CCSD working to fill over 40 bus driver positions since last school year

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District says it’s continuing to fill bus driver positions before the next school year in August.

FOX5 had the opportunity to speak with the assistant superintendent for the district, Amber Rideout, less than three weeks before the 2025-26 school year. She said the district had 42 driver vacancies as the previous school year ended.

“We’re holding strong in that area, but we’re working to fill those positions,” she said.

The district said between now and the first day of classes, the district will get a better idea of where it stands, such as when returning bus drivers will pick their routes and where new drivers will come in.

Some of the buses that drivers will operate have cameras attached to them as part of a pilot program that started last year.
