LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Residents at the Ainsley at the Collective apartment complex near Paradise and Flamingo have been without running water since last Friday, forcing many to relocate to hotels while crews work to restore service.

The water outage began during maintenance work last Friday when water started shooting through parts of the complex, according to residents. The incident has left standing water in some areas, including what appeared to be a mail room, with carpets ripped up and dryers being used to address water damage.

Temporary measures in place

The apartment complex has set up mobile restrooms and porta potties on the property while hauling in bottled water for residents. Management is also providing hotel stipends for displaced residents.

“We are working diligently to restore water as quickly as possible,” the apartment complex said in a statement. “We’re maintaining all resident support measures already in place, including hotel stipends, bottled water distribution, and on-site sanitation stations until water is restored. Our residents remain our top priority, and we’re doing everything possible to resolve this matter swiftly.”

Residents told FOX5 they’ve been told they will be reimbursed up to $350.00 per day for things like hotel, transportation and other expenses.

Impact on families

One father with four children said his kids have been showering at friends’ houses during the outage.

Henry Bojanowski, who works overnights at a solar company, told us he’s gone 2-3 days without showering.

“Probably like the longest in my life,” he said.

Residents expressed mixed reactions to the situation. While some voiced frustration about the nearly week-long outage, others said the complex is doing the best it can considering the circumstances.
