LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The City of Henderson is changing course and agreeing to foot the bill for damage caused after a weekend-long barricade back in April.

The face was ripped off a townhome near Galleria and Cadence Vista in the process of the standoff. No progress has been made on repairs to the outside of the building, more than five months later.

Back in May, the city said the community’s Homeowner Association was responsible for paying for repairs to the structure of the building, and the property owners were responsible for their individual townhomes.

Now, the city says they’re working with a third party to figure out what needs to be fixed, and will pay each person back.

“After further discussions, the City opted to work with a third-party claims evaluator to determine the property damage caused by the incident and settle the costs according to each homeowner’s unique circumstances. This process will continue until the property damage claims are settled. The total cost will be determined once all property claims are assessed,” A City of Henderson spokesperson said in a statement.

As for why the damage was caused in the first place, FOX5 has requested documents pertaining to the barricade from the Henderson Police Department.

HPD denied the request, citing an open investigation, but would not specify what aspects are still being investigated.

FOX5 has reached out to the community’s HOA, the McAuley Homeowners Association, several times for an update on the repairs, and have not heard back.
