The sheriff’s office says the incident began when Davidson was firing a gun in a wash area and shot and killed his mother. This led to a police chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour, a deadly carjacking, and two shootouts with police.

On Monday, the lead investigator provided a detailed account of what happened on Dec. 27, 2023: “There was a shooting call in the area of Warm Springs and Bermuda. During that shooting call, as officers responded, the suspect stole a police car after shooting at the officers, which led to a pursuit and the theft of several other vehicles and ultimately, officer-involved shootings.”

The investigator also detailed all five officers and troopers involved in the shooting and how many times each of them fired their weapons at Davidson, hitting him multiple times as he continued to drive. He was found dead in the van.

Monday’s proceedings were not a trial. The purpose was to provide the findings of the investigation to the public.
