LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The search for a new leader of the Clark County School District continues. Tuesday, Clark County Commissioners got an update from their representative on the CCSD board.
Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick expressed concern with the process so far, especially a survey for the community.
“It’s a flawed survey in my opinion,” argued Kirkpatrick referring to a district survey sent to parents, students, and teachers on what they want to see in their next leader.
“I felt like they asked the same questions just in a different way and it troubled me,” Kirkpatrick added. Kirkpatrick asserted important questions aren’t being asked.
Lisa Satory, who was appointed earlier this year to represent Clark County on the CCSD Board of Trustees (though she does not have voting power like elected school board members), explained how the survey was created.
“It was the survey that they have utilized in previous searches, so we didn’t kind of rework the whole thing,” Satory revealed.
“Mark my words, if it comes back that the community wasn’t very decisive on anything and you let a superintendent get through the search on indecisive, I am going to holler very loudly that you messed up the survey to begin with,” Kirkpatrick promised.
The CCSD Superintendent community survey is open now and will close September 3rd. The district says they are trying to include as much of the community as possible.
