LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County commissioners will introduce revisions to electric bike and scooter regulations next week.

The commissioners say the current county code lacks laws on these popular electric motorized devices, leading to safety concerns and enforcement issues across the valley.

FOX5 has reported on several crashes with these electric devices, including one that collided with an RTC bus earlier this month.

Among other amendments, county officials want to ban certain types of electric devices at all county parks, skateparks, bicycle parks, recreational facilities, and on any park trail or pathway.

The new ordinance would also amend the definition of ‘motorcycle’ to include motorcycles powered by an electric motor.

Commissioners will take public comment on the proposed changes Tuesday at 9 a.m.

This is a developing story.
