LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County firefighters returned to the valley on Tuesday afternoon after assisting with the Davis Fire near Reno.
The 34-person team returned to the CCFD training center around 4:30 p.m., marking an early end to what was supposed to be a two-week mission. The team spent most of their time in Northern Nevada providing backfill support running calls from stations while local personnel were deployed to the Davis Fire.

The fire is sitting at 92% contained after favorable weather conditions in the area helped firefighters make significant progress this past weekend.
“If it would have made it another couple 100 yards north, it would have burned through some really expensive property,” said Clark County Fire Captain Matt Vanbuskirk. “I think that’s why they have the resources out there to get to this fire quickly and put a stop on it.”
Clark County and North Las Vegas Fire Departments assisted the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, while Las Vegas Fire and Rescue and North Las Vegas Fire assisted the Reno Fire Department.
Fire officials say the team responded to a total of 150 calls from Thursday through Sunday, over 96 hours.
