LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Family, friends, and members of the community came together Wednesday night to mourn, remember, and celebrate the lives of a mother and her two young sons killed by an accused drunk driver.

The crash near Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway on Sunday, January 6 claimed the lives of Rebecca Post, and her sons, five-year-old Leo Post-Quintanilla, and six-year-old Achilles Quintanilla. Both boys attended Dennis Ortwein Elementary School, so that’s where the vigil was held.

Purple was Rebecca’s favorite color, so attendees wore purple ribbons. She’s remembered as a woman who survived both breast cancer and heart disease.

Her 19-year-old daughter, Leighonna, told FOX5 says the school organized the event on her family’s behalf.

“With everything on my mind, I didn’t even think about it, I was worried, a funeral and all this,” she said. “I can’t express enough how much I’m thankful for everyone here.”

A GoFundMe account to help Leighonna pay for funeral expenses has now surpassed $50,000.
