LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas is bracing for the heat this week as temperatures are expected to range between five and 15 degrees above normal.
An excessive heat watch has been issued for Wednesday through Friday by the National Weather Service. However, meteorologists warn that the watch could turn into a warning by Monday morning.
The hottest day of the week is expected to be Thursday, which is set to reach a high of 111 degrees.
Clark County shared some tips on Monday to help locals beat the heat and announced that cooling stations will be opening around the valley.
Cooling stations can be found at the following locations:
- Pearson Community Center — 1625 West Carey Ave.
- Cambridge Recreation Center — 3930 Cambridge St.
- Catholic Charities — 1511 North Las Vegas Blvd.
- Courtyard Homeless Resource Center — 1401 Las Vegas Blvd. North
- Walnut Recreation Center — 3075 N. Walnut Rd.
- Hollywood Recreation Center — 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.
- Whitney Recreation Center — 5712 E Missouri Ave.
- Downtown Senior Center — 27 E. Texas Ave.
- Downtown Recreation Center — 105 W Basic Rd.
Most locations are open anywhere from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., except the Downtown Senior Center, which is only open from noon to 3 p.m.
