LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Boulder City couple accused of hoarding nearly 200 animals are now facing numerous felony charges.
Timothy Miller and Carolyn Luke appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court Thursday afternoon. It’s their second time in court in less than a week.
Miller and Luke didn’t have much to say today as the judge addressed them in court- they each face over a dozen felony charges.
Court records show 14 felony charges of torturing or killing an animal were filed today for the couple.
This case stemmed from when their car was stopped in Boulder City, and officers found dead guinea pigs inside containers and luggage. Those charges were misdemeanor.
Police found out about additional animals inside their home and hotel here in the valley. 33 dogs were found in the hotel room,12 of them were dead. A total of 150 animals were found.
On Thursday, a Las Vegas judge released the couple on their recognizance and ordered them to stay out of trouble and not have any animals.
They will be back again in court on August 22 at 8 a.m.
The judge said the state needed more time to file a criminal complaint.
This latest court appearance comes after one on Tuesday where a judge determined the two will serve a suspended sentence on house arrest. That hearing was only regarding the car stop in Boulder City, which led officers to the hoarding scenes at three different locations.
