LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating a carjacking that led to a vehicle pursuit through the northwest valley Thursday morning.

According to LVMPD, officers responded to reports of a carjacking by an armed individual in the 6000 block of Strongbow Drive, near Lake Mead and Hollywood, around 4:51 a.m.

Arriving officers observed the vehicle taken in the carjacking, and attempted to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle sped away from the area, police initiated a pursuit.

Through the use of “pursuit termination tactics,” the vehicle was disabled in the area of Nellis and Cheyenne. Police say the suspect was then taken into custody.

There were no reported crashed as a result of the chase, police added. The suspect also was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons.

All lanes along Nellis and Cheyenne will remain closed while an investigation is ongoing.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area, and find other routes if possible.
