LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Newly-released dash cam video shows the moments leading up to a deadly 12-car crash in northwest Las Vegas.

The crash happened at Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard Nov. 18. Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department accuse 19-year-old Jose Gutierrez of three charges of open murder, as well as attempted murder, reckless driving and battery charges.

Police say he had a passenger who died at the scene, later identified as Adilene Duran Rincon, 20. The second death was the driver of another vehicle, Edward Garcia, 38. According to a report, Rincon was Gutierrez‘s girlfriend and was reportedly 11 weeks pregnant.

Days later, a third victim died due to their injuries in the crash. The Clark County coroner identified her as 25-year-old Vanessa Lainez Vasquez. She was a passenger in a Nissan Altima that caught fire during the crash.

Previously, District Attorney Steve Wolfson said his office believes that the crash was “intentional.”

According to the arrest report, a marijuana vape pen was found in Gutierrez’s pocket.

When asked if he had consumed alcohol before the crash, police say Gutierrez denied it but admitted to smoking marijuana beforehand. The officer also noted in the arrest report that Gutierrez’s eyes were “bloodshot and watery.” A marijuana vape pen was later found by crime scene analysts in the pocket of Gutierrez’s clothing, which was removed as he arrived at the hospital, the report stated.

Gutierrez stated he did not remember the crash, according to the report. He told officers he might have had a seizure and that he had been having them since the age of five.

Last month, court records also show that Gutierrez was cited for going 52 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

Las Vegas Metro Police say anyone who may have seen the suspect’s vehicle before the time of the crash and noticed anything unusual about the driving pattern is urged to report it.
