LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metro Police responded to an incident where a mother and daughter were found dead inside a Hotel and Casino.
According to LVMPD, on Feb. 15, around 10:40 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check on a mother and daughter at a Hotel and Casino property located in the 3700 block of West Flamingo Road.
Officers and security knocked on the hotel room several times. No one answered at the time, but officials believed the pair were not in danger, according to police. They say they cleared the scene.
Police report that security personnel returned at 2:27 p.m. after additional requests were made to check on the mother and daughter. Security entered the room, located the two unresponsive individuals, and contacted authorities.
Homicide detectives report that, according to the preliminary evidence at the scene, the mother shot her daughter before turning the gun on herself.
According to TMZ, the Utah mom and daughter were in Las Vegas for a cheer competition. The Utah Xtreme Cheer team posted on Facebook, where they expressed their condolences to the family.
