LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Attorneys representing a man charged in a deadly 12-car crash are asking a court for more time to hire three expert witnesses and an investigator.

At Wednesday’s hearing, prosecutors also made a new request for discovery.
What prosecutors allege
Prosecutors say Gutierrez intentionally caused the crash to kill his girlfriend, Adilene Duran Rincon, who was 11 weeks pregnant at the time. Two other people were also killed: 38-year-old Edward Garcia and 25-year-old Vanessa Lainez Vasquez.
Defense argument
Attorneys for Gutierrez maintain that he had a medical episode that caused the crash.
The next hearing in this case is set for April 1.
