LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – DETR’s unemployment portal will go offline for a week starting Monday afternoon.

For claimants, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation’s website will shut down starting at 4 p.m. Monday.

Officials say it’s for maintenance, and that the website will go back online Monday with updates. Services to view or file new claims, access weekly benefits, and contact staff will be unavailable during this week-long period.

DETR said the maintenance is to modernize the Unemployment Insurance benefits system.

“This transformation is the result of years of planning and development, and it will provide claimants with faster, more user-friendly, and mobile-accessible services,” said Christopher Sewell, director of the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation.

Officials say the outage was communicated to the public in advance and staff was briefed.

“We look forward to officially launching the new system on July 7 and will update the public in the weeks following go-live to showcase the system’s new features, improved functionality, and how it will better serve Nevada’s workers and employers,” Sewell said.

As of May 2025, Nevada’s unemployment rate sits at 5.5%.
