LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Two North Las Vegas residents say they are on high alert after a dangerous new social media trend reported across the country has made its way to the Las Vegas Valley.

Valley Vista Resident Tyler Reggie shared video with FOX5, showing a group violently kicking his door before taking off in the middle of the night.

“I jumped up immediately and assumed the worst,” Reggie said. “I thought I was going downstairs to try to fight off somebody that I didn’t want to have to fight off.”

The video is from July 8 at 3 a.m. He said the group not only cost him and his pregnant girlfriend a night’s sleep, but an estimated $5,000 to replace their door frame.

“It’s easy for somebody to just ring the doorbell and run away, kicking the door and causing property damage, it’s a little less harmless,” he said.

FOX5 also heard from Reggie’s neighbor, Ariean Sorenson, who captured video on July 16 at 2 a.m. She believes someone’s seen scoping out her door jam for the same online trend.

“Everybody who lives in Valley Vista could be the next target,” Sorenson said. “People are reinforcing their doors.”

Both neighbors say they’re sharing their stories with the hope of stopping the trend before it escalates.

“It’s only a matter of time before somebody gets killed.” Sorenson said.

Reggie said he filed a report with North Las Vegas Police regarding the July 8 incident.

NLVPD confirmed they took a report, and are investigating.
