LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A driver is facing DUI and hit-and-run charges after hitting and killing a pedestrian in the northeast valley early Saturday morning.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred at Marion Drive and Flippin Street around 5:38 a.m. An initial investigation revealed that a 1996 Ford Ranger was traveling north on Marion, while a pedestrian was in the roadway near the intersection of Marion and Flippin.

The collision occurred when the front of the Ford struck the pedestrian, redirecting him north. The Ford then fled the area.

Arriving emergency medical services transported the pedestrian to UMC, where he would later die from his injuries.

Detectives would later locate the Ford and arrest its driver, booking him into the Clark County Detention Center.

“The pedestrian’s death marked the 114th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
