LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A woman with no license or insurance crashed a vehicle into Dino’s Lounge early Aug. 4 at about 60 mph and refused field sobriety and blood tests, Las Vegas police said.
On Aug. 4, just after 6:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a crash at Dino’s Lounge near Las Vegas and Oakey boulevards. The driver, identified as Margerette Williams, 32, was extracted from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital, an arrest report said. Police said Williams refused to submit to a field sobriety test as well as a blood draw.
Williams told investigators she had been driving her friend’s vehicle when another vehicle crashed into her. She told police that was all she remembered, according to police documents. The officer noted that Williams had bloodshot and watery eyes and seemed confused, telling investigators that she could not remember if anyone was in the vehicle with her but asked “if her mother was okay.”
“She appeared to be confused and had a blank stare and kept asking the same questions over and over again as if she was not comprehending the answers I was providing her,” the officer said in the arrest report.
Williams told another officer that her vehicle had been rear-ended by another car on the road, spinning her into the building, according to the report. The officer noted there was no damage to the rear of Williams’ vehicle, and witnesses stated she appeared to have driven the car at 60 mph directly into Dino’s Lounge.
The report said a small glass pipe with narcotics residue was found in the back seat of the vehicle, as well as an opened “buzz ball,” an alcoholic substance, on the front passenger floorboard.
Officials determined that Williams did not have a driver’s license and had no insurance on the vehicle, which also had an expired registration.
