PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are searching for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a woman early Monday morning in north Phoenix.
Phoenix police officers were called out at around 6 a.m. to the area of 37th and Peoria avenues.
When they got to the scene, officers found 70-year-old Alicia Melero Dominguez seriously hurt. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
The driver sped off, but the vehicle was found nearby with no one inside, police said. Investigators didn’t provide a suspect description.
Police said Dominguez was jaywalking when she was hit.
Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case.
