LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A driver involved in a crash on State Route 163 last month had THC in his system at the time, Nevada State Police say.
State troopers responded to a rollover crash on April 27 around 3:17 p.m. and found a Dodge with ten occupants, including several juveniles. The majority of the occupants, including the driver, were transported to a nearby hospital via air and ground ambulance.
The right-front passenger of the Dodge, identified as 31-year-old Tiffany Haywood, died at the scene.
Investigators found that the driver of the Dodge, identified as Thomas Bernoudy, failed to stay withing his travel lane and departed off the road into the center median and overturned. As the vehicle overturned, multiple unrestrained occupants were ejected.
Bernoudy also showed signs of impairment at the crash scene, according to police. Toxicology samples were collected, and later showed that his blood various types of THC, including Delta-9.
Bernoudy was booked on charges of DUI resulting in death, reckless driving, and child neglect and endangerment, among others. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bail.
He is due back in court on May 22.
