LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man accused of driving under the influence has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, Las Vegas police say.
24-year-old Diego Herrera-Herrera drove eastbound on Sahara early Monday morning, according to Las Vegas Metro Police. At the intersection with McLeod Drive, at least two cars were stopped at a red light.
Metro Police said Herrera-Herrera failed to decrease speed and hit a Nissan, which then hit a Mazda. Police say both vehicles were pushed into the intersection.
Medical crews transported multiple people involved in the crash to Sunrise Hospital for advanced medical care. The driver and the passenger of the Nissan, identified as two women from Las Vegas, sustained “substantial” injuries from the crash.
The driver of the Mazda, a 35-year-old woman, claimed “minor” injuries.
Herrera-Herrera showed signs of impairment and has life-threatening injuries. He has been admitted to the intensive care unit at Sunrise Hospital.
“This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section,” police said.
