LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – According to a social media post, officials from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Traffic Bureau said a “DUI Super Blitz” resulted in 473 citations, 68 DUI arrests, and seven other arrests over the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
“Officers from EVERY Area Command, @LVMPD_Traffic, and our @lvmpd_dispatch, joined with @HendersonNVPD, Boulder City City Police, @NVStatePolice, and our phlebotomists to keep you safe on the roads,” the post said.
Additionally, officials said three firearms were recovered, as were 1,175 grams of methamphetamine. The “SUPER DUI Blitz” resulted in 861 traffic stops from July 4 to July 6.
Other law enforcement efforts over the holiday weekend include the “You Light It, We Write It” campaign. That campaign, which involved personnel from the LVMPD, the Clark County Fire Department, and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, resulted in the confiscation of 8,851 pounds of illegal fireworks and the issuance of 149 citations to individuals.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to two calls for burns, 116 outside fires, and seven building fires. They, alongside partnering agencies outside the organization’s jurisdiction, handled 293 emergency incidents, with 466 units deployed.
“I am proud of our dedicated team at Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and I extend my gratitude to our members for their commitment to our beloved community,” said Fernando Gray, fire chief for Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. “We greatly appreciate our partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Clark County, and we are eager to continue our collaboration as we develop improved plans for 2026.”
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue processed 1,193 emergency calls over the holiday, officials said.
