LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Former Raider Henry Ruggs is now working at the Governor’s Mansion as part of his 2023 DUI sentence.
The once first-round NFL draft pick was sentenced Aug. 9, 2023 to a minimum of three years and a maximum of ten years in state prison after he agreed to plead guilty to a pair of charges following a fiery DUI crash that killed a 23-year-old Las Vegas woman and her dog.
The former wide receiver was reportedly driving as fast as 156 mph with a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit when his Chevrolet Corvette struck and killed Tina Tintor in her Toyota RAV4 early on the morning of November 2, 2021.
Ruggs was booked into High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs last year, but records show he is now serving time at Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City. Nevada Department of Corrections confirmed Ruggs is assigned to work at the Governor’s Mansion.
NDOC said Ruggs is one of a handful of “trusties” working at the Governor’s Mansion. They explained that Ruggs is minimum custody.
NDOC explained that “trusties” work at local or state offices during the day and return to their respective conservation camps in the evening.
Ruggs’ attorney noted during his sentencing that his client has been on house arrest with electronic monitoring for over a year and a half without a single violation.
