LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County is opening splash pads across the region starting on Friday as unprecedented high temperatures continue.

County officials say most locations will be available immediately, but two sites will remain closed while crews complete maintenance and repairs.

Those sites, Joe Shoong Park in east Las Vegas and Peace Park in Sandy Valley, are scheduled to open on Wednesday, April 1.

The early opening follows a similar move by the City of Las Vegas, which began operating its splash pads ahead of schedule last week as temperatures climbed and families prepared for the spring break holiday.

Forecasters expect the unusually hot weather to continue through the weekend.

An extreme heat warning remains in effect through Sunday night.
