LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The first-ever “Fabulous 5-Day Sale” for the Entertainment Capital of the World aims to boost visitation, foot traffic and generate buzz after a summer slump.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority promised deals as part of the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” campaign.

The 5-day sale launched at 6 a.m. Monday, and more than 100 offerings are available across resorts, dining and entertainment venues for visitors and locals.

“It’s the first ever destination wide sale for Las Vegas,” said Katie Wick of the LVCVA. “What’s so unique about Las Vegas is the spectacle and the fact that you can have that spectacle at every single price point. So whether you’re a luxury traveler or a value traveler, Las Vegas offers an unbelievable experience for you,” Wick said.

Plenty of posts across social media highlight the variety of hotel, food and beverage and entertainment deals.

Hospitality experts are tracking the trends. This summer, FOX5 spoke with Dr. Amanda Belarmino of UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality about tourists clamoring for “value” on social media in a challenging economy.

“Sales like this have traditionally led to increased visitation, and this kind of citywide effort should help bring good publicity back to the city. Similar to what happened with Cracker Barrel, this is an example of responding to the public. As the offers are varied in what is being discounted, it should give us good quality data as to what will bring back more visitors,” Belarmino tells FOX5 Monday.

What comes after this 5-day extravaganza?

“We will look at the results of this and the input and feedback from our property partners to determine is this a regular cadence? Is it an annual event? Is it a biannual event? We are open to whatever the best decision is for our property partners, but our goal is to try new things… if something works, we will repeat it and try it again,” Wick said.
