RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – All six defendants in the fake electors case appeared via Zoom on October 27, 2025, in Carson District Court.

That’s after a Justice of the Peace in the Capital City determined last Friday October 24, 2025, that there was enough evidence in the case to hold the defendants over for trial.

The defendants, Michael McDonald, James Degraffenreid, Jesse Law, Shawn Meehan, Durward Hindle, and Elain Rice all face forgery charges.

The six appeared on video on December 14, 2020, allegedly casting electoral votes for Donald Trump when in fact, a majority of Nevadans voted for Joe Biden.

Judge James Russell spelled out what charges the defendants face.

“One count uttering a forged instrument, forgery, a category D felony.”

The case, brought by Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford more than a year ago was first heard in Clark County down in Las Vegas.

However, the case is stuck in its tracks as the Nevada Supreme Court heard arguments in the summer the Clark County Court didn’t have jurisdiction as the alleged forged papers were signed in Carson City.

The 2020 incident was one of a string of events in several states where voter fraud was alleged.

In Nevada the alleged “fake votes” were sent to the National Archive back in Washington.

Attorney for Michael McDonald, Richard Wright asked for a speedy trial for his client.

Judge Russell said the case, which could take up to eight days, could be accommodated starting July 7, of 2026. All parties agreed to that date.

It’s interesting to note, when Donald Trump won Nevada in last year’s presidential election, McDonald and Law were Nevada electors and cast their ballots for Mr. Trump during special ceremonies up at UNR on December 17, 2024.
