A report from the District Attorney called the officers’ actions reasonable and legally justified. The officers were identified as Sgt. Ryan Fryman, Officer Daniel Emerton, Officer Vernon Ferguson, Officer Andrew Locher and Officer John Squeo.

None of the officers had body cameras on. Gomez was found to be carrying loaded handguns. The district attorney opted not to file criminal charges against the officers, but Gomez’s family filed a civil lawsuit.

The two officers found liable will have to pay a total of $6.5 million in damages between the two.
