LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Community members gathered on Monday to honor the life of Desirae Tover-Ada, the woman police say was shot and killed inside her home while calling 911 for help.
Family, friends, and loved ones remembered Tover-Ada as a mother of three with a “heart of gold,” known for spreading positivity.
According to police, on March 17, Tover-Ada called 911 reporting her ex-boyfriend, Jorge Garcia, was threatening her at her home near Durango Drive and Blue Diamond Road. Police say the dispatcher heard a struggle followed by gunshots. Officers arrived and found Tover-Ada dead.
Police later tracked down and arrested Garcia. Investigators say he admitted to killing her. Authorities said the couple’s children were not at the home at the time of the shooting.
Tover-Ada’s family says, in addition to her three children, she is survived by her parents and seven siblings.
