Family of North Las Vegas firefighter severely injured in house fire

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The family of a North Las Vegas firefighter was severely injured in a house fire on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post shared Friday, the City of North Las Vegas Fire Department shared, “A member of our fire department family has experienced a serious tragedy. Fire Logistics Officer Scott Schuster’s wife and daughter were seriously injured as a result of a fire at their home.”

The post added that both are hospitalized and will likely remain hospitalized “for many weeks ahead” and “will require multiple surgeries and skin grafts, followed by extensive physical therapy and emotional support.”

Currently, it is unclear what caused the fire in their home.

The Southern Nevada Burn Foundation is accepting donations to assist the Schuster Family as they begin their journey toward recovery. Donations will go directly toward medical expenses, rehab and therapy, and ongoing care.
