RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A federal judge has temporarily stopped a long dormant law requiring parental notification if a minor is seeking an abortion from taking effect.
The 1985 law was set to be enforced starting Wednesday, after a district court ruled a legal injunction based on Roe v Wade was no longer in play.
Planned Parenthood filed a request to delay the rollout as it appeals that ruling to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which must be filed by this Friday.
While the law requires parental notification, it does not require consent from parents of a minor seeking an abortion.
