Federal officials revoke 4 UNLV international students visas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV announced the visas of 4 international students have been revoked by federal immigration authorities.

UNLV officials made the announcement Friday evening in a letter to students.

The letter expressed sympathy and support for the students impacted. They also shared they were prepared for the possibility of this happening.

“Unfortunately, similar circumstances are affecting many universities and colleges across the country, and so we were prepared for this possibility. We are offering support and guidance to the students during this difficult time,” said Chris Heavey, Officer in Charge.

According to the Associated Press an alarming crackdown is looming which have university leaders aware of the Trump administration’s new tactics and vague justifications to strip students of their visas.

The university has shared immigration resources such as the UNLV Immigration Clinic, mental health counseling, and answers to frequently asked questions to understand your rights related to federal immigration.

These are available to students concerned or affected by the revocation.
