LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Fire restrictions are back for some Nevada mountains.
According to officials restrictions when into effect for the area over the weekend.
“there have already been three fires in the Spring Mountains this month.” said Ray Johnson, with US Forest Service
Two of the three, one near Pahrump and the other near Spring Mountains were caused by lightning, a third was human caused by people shooting weapons.
At this time of the year with low humidity and hot temperatures the fire risk is elevated.
Johnson says in the coming months with the ongoing drought the fire risk will go from bad to worse.
His advise, “be thoughtful about where you park on the mountain. Dry grass is a fuel source for any potential fire caused by hot brakes or catalytic converters.”
Johnson also wants to remind visitors to the mountain that no fireworks even the safe and sane are allowed on federal land.
