LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – First responders will perform a training exercise on UNLV property Thursday morning.

An announcement said that the training exercise will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 777 E. Harmon Avenue, west of the Facilities Management Administration building, and south of the Paul McDermott Physical Education Complex. Officials say this building will be demolished May or June of this year.

“Prior to demolition, UNLV is partnering with several first-responder agencies to provide real-world training opportunities at this property for their staff,” the announcement said. “During this time you can expect to see emergency response vehicles and first responders entering and exiting the building and hear loud noises.”

Officials say signage will be placed in front of the building while training takes place. UNLV says to refrain from visiting the area while training is taking place as the sights and sounds could cause emotional discomfort.

Mental health and counseling resources are provided by the university for individuals who experience any distress.
