LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Federal workers have had a tough year, and this month, Clark County hopes to offer those looking for a new career path.

They’re hosting a webinar on Monday, April 28.

FOX5 spoke to Clark County commission chairman Tick Segerblom about the county’s intentions for the program.

“There’s been lots of federal employees that have been let go. Lots of that don’t know what their status is and so on behalf of the county where we want to reach out and let them know anything we can do to help them and particularly if they want a job with the county,” Segerblom said.

The webinar will focus on how a career with Clark County compares to federal service employment.

“That’s the part we don’t know. That’s why we’re trying to have this, to see what’s actually out there as far as the type of employees who are looking to work for us. And then we can start to tailor this. So this is not a one-off. This is just to start. Once we learn more about what’s out there, we can try to tailor it to specific jobs,” the commissioner explained.

It will also provide an overview of open positions and how your skills can be applied.

“We have a lot of technical jobs, a lot of engineering jobs. So just we have lots of vacancies. They probably start at the start at bottom of the range. But we’re a great place to work and we would love to have them,” Segerblom added.
