LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A former Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) captain will soon face a judge in connection with a Christmas Eve crash that revealed a cache of drugs stolen from his firehouse.

Metro says former captain Christopher Burr crashed into a wall at north Torrey Pines and Horse Drive.

They say Burr claimed to have had a seizure, but paramedics reported seeing medical vials in the console and a syringe on the floorboard of his truck.

They also told police, Burr went back to the truck to secure those vials. Officers say those vials were later found behind a nearby wall. An arrest report shows they contained fentanyl.

Burr failed a field sobriety test and officers arrested him for DUI.

Police later discovered those bottles came from a room for discarded and expired medication within CCFD Station 18.

That has earned him additional charges. The arrest report says, “wherein his authority allowed him to place, not remove the narcotics in the room, Burr committed the crime of unlawful taking or obtaining a controlled substance.”

Burr faces charges of obtaining a controlled substance or prescription drug from an authorized person, and misconduct of a public official, in addition to burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

He is expected to be back in court on June 12.
