LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Former Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak told the New York Times Friday that he is considering running against current Governor Joe Lombardo once again.

Sisolak lost to Lombardo by more than a point, with Lombardo earning 491,314 (48.8%) and Sisolak earning only 477,349 (47.4%). The New York Times highlighted that Sisolak was one of the only incumbent Democrats to lose his seat during the 2022 mid-term elections.

“I’m not ruling it out ― I’m looking into it. I’ve been encouraged by a lot of people to run again, and I’m considering it,” Sisolak said in the interview.

Though, he added, he would need to “wait and see what happens as we go through the next few months of the Legislature.”

Sisolak highlighted that Lombardo vetoed more than 50 bills during his last session, and is waiting to see if this session yields a similar number.

When asked about Aaron Ford, who recently announced he was also running for Governor in 2026, Sisolak said, “That’s a big decision. It’s something that I hope he thought through and decided with his family and he’ll make the decision that feels is best for him.”

FOX5 has reached out to Governor Lombardo and Aaron Ford’s offices for statements.
