LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A former all-girls Las Vegas charter school teacher was arrested in connection with child abuse charges, according to school officials.
Records confirm that Marco Penaloza, 30, was arrested on Wednesday and faces multiple felony child sex crimes. Penaloza was an employee at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Las Vegas. A spokesperson told FOX5 that Penazola transferred to the school two weeks ago as a substitute math teacher.
School officials say Penaloza was immediately terminated following his arrest. According to a statement, the crimes he’s accused of are not connected to the school or students.
They add YWLA has been told the arrest and the crimes does not involve any students from the school.
Kat Draper, the YWLA Principal, shared a statement with FOX5.
Penloza is expected to appear in court Tuesday.
