
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A former Nye County Sheriff’s Office captain has avoided prison time after pleading guilty to civil rights violations and wire fraud.
David Boruchowitz was sentenced to three years probation Tuesday. The case involved the former CEO of Valley Electric Association.

Boruchowitz was a deputy sheriff in 2019. According to court documents, during his position, he arrested Angela Evans without probable cause for charges of embezzlement.
He is also accused of making false statements to get court documents and lying during a federal deposition.
The Department of Justice said he also devised a fraud scheme meant to influence a member of the VEA Board of Directors to part with the position.
