LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A friend of the woman shot and killed outside a Las Vegas car rental facility spoke with FOX5 Tuesday evening.
A friend has identified the woman as Gina Martin.
He says that Martin was kind, funny, and loved her son and family more than anything.
Police say that Martin and another man were picking up a rental car near Sahara and Decatur over the weekend.
They say the suspect, Frederick Blanche, approached the victims, argued with them, then shot them, and left the scene.
The suspect was later taken into custody in Arizona.
Metro police say they traced the suspect’s phone to Buckeye, Arizona, and reached out to Phoenix police for assistance.
Phoenix police found the suspect’s vehicle and later arrested him after exiting an apartment unit.
Metro police say that the suspect and Martin knew each other.
Martin’s friend, Ivan Williams, says that he spoke with her about the suspect shortly before she died.
“I spoke with Gina maybe an hour before she passed away, so to know how it happened, it sucks. The last message I sent to her was to let her know that the guy who actually took her life, he was looking through my Instagram stories, I guess trying to find out where she was, so for that to be the last time I spoke to her an hour before she passed, it hurts,” said Williams.
Martin died at the scene.
The other man who was shot remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect is awaiting extradition to Las Vegas.
