LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A fugitive is back in custody after fleeing police supervision in 2019, Nevada State Police say.
NSP said Khalifa Sikes was arrested Tuesday by Nevada State Police, Division of Parole and Probation and the United States Marshals Service. He is back in the Clark County Detention Center.
Police said Sikes was wanted in Nevada for probation violations. He was previously convicted of repeatedly pandering a juvenile and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. Police said in a separate case, he was found in possession of marijuana, an AR-15 rifle, and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in August 2018.
On April 13, 2019, police say Sikes received suspended prison sentences of 12 to 36 months in two separate cases and was placed on probation. He participated in supervision before fleeing in October 2019.
Police said Sikes was deemed a threat to the safety and security of the public. NSP said a joint fugitive investigation was conducted and began in August 2025. Sikes was later located in Las Vegas.
“This arrest reflects our unwavering commitment to protect the public from dangerous offenders. Sikes posed a clear threat to the safety of our community,” said U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield. “His apprehension was a direct result of coordinated, persistent teamwork between state, local and federal law enforcement partners. We remain dedicated to ensuring that violent fugitives are brought to justice and held accountable.”
