“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Engineer Brinkerhoff’s family, loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of serving alongside him,” the joint obituary stated. “The members of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue will continue to honor his life, his service, and his dedication to protecting others.”
Brinkerhoff died following a single-vehicle collision on Wednesday, February 25 near mile marker 28 in Lander County, about one mile east of Austin Summit.
Troopers said a blue Freightliner “bobtail” truck was traveling east on U.S. 50 when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, crossed into the westbound lane, left the roadway, hit a road sign and overturned, coming to rest on its right side on the dirt shoulder.
The driver would later be identified as Brinkerhoff, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue has pledged to carry forward his legacy of service, leadership, and dedication to the community he served.
