LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Vegas Golden Knights topped the host Dallas Stars, 3-1, in Game 2 of their opening round playoff series, giving VGK a commanding 2-0 series lead.

After a Jason Robertson goal gave Dallas the lead, 2023 playoff star Jonathan Marchessault answered for the Knights with less than two minutes remaining in the first, knotting the game at 1-1.

Defenseman Noah Hanifin notched his first career playoff goal with 1:07 remaining in the second period to give VGK a 2-1 lead.

Fans turned out at Lee’s Family Forum to watch Game 2 against Dallas.

The Golden Knights played airtight third-period defense for the second straight game in Dallas, forcing the Stars to pull their goaltender for an extra skater with 1:47 remaining. The extra attacker made no difference, and Jack Eichel buried an empty-net goal with 33.8 seconds remaining to seal matters for the defending champions.

The series shifts to Las Vegas for Game 3, with the Golden Knights and Stars facing off at T-Mobile Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
