HUMBOLDT COUNTY (FOX5) — Governor Joe Lombardo visited the Thacker Pass Lithium Project in Humboldt County on Friday.

His office calls it one of the biggest energy and critical mineral projects in the country. Thacker Pass is run by Lithium Americas and General Motors and sits on the largest known lithium resource in North America.

The company said the project is valued at $3 billion and has approximately 900 construction workers on site. It is expected to become a major U.S. source of lithium for electric vehicle batteries.
