LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz has postponed his rally in Reno on Monday.

In a statement from his team, the rally was postponed as officials continue to track the Davis wildfire, which is currently burning at 4,700.

Currently, NV Energy is working to restore power to the areas impacted after evacuations and de-energization efforts were ordered over the weekend.

“As crews continue working around the clock to mitigate the Davis Fire in Northern Nevada, the Harris-Walz campaign is postponing Governor Tim Walz’s scheduled rally in Reno on Monday, September 9th,” a statement from the Harris-Walz team read. “We will continue to work with federal, state, and local partners to monitor the situation, and we urge the impacted communities to heed the evacuation and safety guidance from local authorities.”

Walz is still scheduled to arrive in Las Vegas around 6 p.m. on Monday and will travel up to Reno later in the day.
