LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – New details on a family disturbance incident that occured in the Inspirada neighborhood in Henderson.

Officers arrived at the scene to find the alleged victim Camelia Chandler covered in blood holding a large knife.

The arrest report explained Chandler is 30-year-old Steven Wilbanks grandmother.

Wilbanks struggles with his mental health, according to the report Wilbanks is often paranoid and believed people were outside the home trying to kill the pair.

Wilbanks asked Chandler to comfort him on the couch, when she sat down she noticed he was holding a large knife. Wilbanks reportedly told her he was going to kill the both of them before “they” could.

Chandler found herself in a struggle with Wilbanks as she attempted to get the knife out of his hands. She had cuts to her leg and hands.

HPD reported, At one point while wrestling for the knife, Wilbanks slit his own throat.

Wilbanks barricaded himself inside the home.

Wilbanks was later arrested and taken to the hospital for his injuries. He will be booked and charged with domestic battery with a deadly weapon.

Police told FOX5 the suspect and the victim were both hospitalized in a SWAT situation.

The victim was treated for their injuries and released from the hospital.
