LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Senior McKenzi Hall earned a runner-up finish after shooting a season-low 6-under 66 in Monday’s final round as UNLV women’s golf concluded its fall schedule at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at Kissing Tree Golf Club (Par 72, 6,123 yards).

Following par-or-better scores in each round of the event, Hall (72-69-66) carded a season-low tournament score at 9-under 207 to land in a five-way tie for second. Her strong finish, which saw her climb 10 spots up the leaderboard, included a pair of eagles on the day on the par-5 third hole and par-4 18th.As a team, the Rebels recorded a final-round 3-under 285 for a sixth-place finish at 8-under 856 through 54 holes. It put the lid on their fall that featured sixth-or-better Scarlet & Gray finishes in all four of its events.

Adding a second top-15 effort for UNLV, senior Mayumi Umezu (-4) notched her ninth straight par-or-better round with a final-round even-par 72 in her tied-for-14th outing. Rounding out the Rebel lineup were senior Hina Matsui (+4) and freshman Amber Chen (+4) in a tie for 41st, as well as sophomore Zi Yu Foong (+9) in a tie for 46th. Freshman Caitlin Shippam (+23), who competed as an individual, tied for 65th in her collegiate debut.

TCU’s Kirstin Angosta edged Hall and the other runners-up by one shot at 10-under 206 for medalist honors. The four runners-up alongside Hall were New Mexico’s Maria Garcia, TCU’s Camille Min-Gaultier, Texas Tech’s Lauren Zaretsky and Oklahoma’s Reagan Chaney.Walking away with the team title, day-one leader TCU held on for the victory with a final score of 22-under 842. The Horned Frogs finished just one shot ahead of Houston (-21) in second.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will return to tournament competition at their spring opener on February 10 when they play at the San Diego State Classic.
