LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Henderson man tells FOX5 he disagrees with the city’s decision to dismiss its police chief after less than two years on the job, so he’s started a petition calling for Hollie Chadwick’s reinstatement.
Jeff Crampton tells us he’s lived in Henderson for 23 years and has frequent contact with the police as part of his business. He says he trusted Chadwick and thought she was very good.
Crampton says he sees her firing as political. He believes the action threatens public safety and diminishes public trust.
He says that’s why he started his petition drive to bring Chadwick back. More than a thousand people have already signed it.
Henderson’s city manager gave the police chief the option of resigning or being fired last week.
A complaint against her accuses her of “union busting activities,” including targeting the president of one police union.
Chadwick has yet to address her abrupt departure. She remains on an administrative leave of absence.
She has until March 6th to accept or reject the resignation offer.
Deputy Chief Itzhak Henn will assume the rule of acting chief until a permanent replacement is named.
