LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Residents in one Henderson neighborhood are taking it upon themselves to watch out for one another.

The Inspirada Neighborhood Watch Program is run by a group of volunteers and residents who take turns driving around the community.

FOX5 followed along with one of the volunteers for their shift.

With a patrol light, and a Neighborhood Watch sign, Park Lauderdale was ready to start his patrol.

“We are not policing we are watching and observing in the community,” Lauderdale said.

Observing anything out of the ordinary is something Lauderdale knows too well. He’s a retired officer from the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Just like a DUI driver that has a tell tale sign well people who are sealing have the same thing,” Lauderdale said.

Lauderdale tells FOX5 as he was driving around the neighborhood this summer, he came across some porch pirates which he reported to Henderson Police Department.

As FOX5 followed Lauderdale through Inspirada, he told us he is not able to approach a suspect instead he does his best to report and be a good witness for the police.

“I bought the teams all cameras so we can have live photos of the incident,” Lauderdale said.

The Inspirada Watch Program was spearheaded by incoming council woman Dr. Monica Larson.

“I think everybody is concerned by crime and public safety because you don’t have quality of life if you don’t have public safety,” Larson said.

Larson is also a Inspirada resident and tells FOX5 she started to notice an increase in car break ins, thefts and attempted home invasions so she took matters into her own hands.

“I started going door to door saying that we need to get back to a sense of community we need to know each other and start a neighborhood watch so everyone is aware on what is going on and how we can prevent it,” Larson said.

With the help of HPD, the Neighborhood Watch Program for Inspirada started in 2023.

It is on of many communities in the city of Henderson.

In a statement to FOX5 HPD said the following:
