LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – For the 4th time in 8 years, the City of Henderson is without their top cop.
Chief Hollie Chadwick is officially stripped of her title as of Thursday.
The veteran cop was with the department for more than 20 years before being promoted to chief back in May of 2023.
However, three weeks ago FOX5 sources revealed the city manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause gave Chadwick an ultimatum, which is either be fired with cause or resign with a hefty settlement.
Since this unfolded, Garcia-Vause has stayed tight lipped about her decision to give the former chief the ultimatum.
However, a memo to the Henderson Police Department provided more clarity.
“On February 13, 2025, I placed Police Chief Hollie Chadwick on leave and informed her that her employment with the City was coming to an end. I respect Chief Chadwick’s 23 years of service to the City.” said City Manager and CEO, Stephanie Garcia-Vause.
FOX5 sources shared Chadwick’s employment was terminated Thursday afternoon prior to Garcia-Vause sending out the memo.
“I offered her the opportunity to leave on the best terms possible. Chief Chadwick chose not to sign or negotiate the terms of the separation agreement that was offered to her. Her at-will employment has now ended.” Garcia-Vause explained.
The city says the decision was not made lightly or due to any specific misconduct by Chief Chadwick.
“It was clear to me that our vision and leadership styles were not aligned.” Garcia-Vause added.
In the last three weeks since this unfolded, there has been a clear division within the Henderson City Council and members of the community.
Many community members showed up to voice their opinion.
FOX5 has reached out to Chadwick’s lawyer but have not heard back.
For now, Deputy Chief Itzack Henn will remain as acting chief.
The city says they look to move quickly in appointing a new chief, and will look at internal candidates.
