LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – As Clark County School District students navigate their first week back, there has been a lot of talk on social media about over crowding at lunch time for various high schools.
As soon as day one wrapped up, many parents took to social media to talk about their student’s high school and how packed the cafeteria and surrounding places were at lunch time.
FOX5 followed up on some of the posts, and went near Foothill High School as students were dismissed.
Students there, tell FOX5 there is one lunch period for the entire student body at Foothill High School.
They said it was so packed that some students were not able to eat.
“We had to get our own snacks and bring them to school because of how long the lines are and I got a text from my friend that they ran out of lunch yesterday because there was so many people in one lunch and they didn’t have time to prepare food,” said freshman Meadow Frost.
One parent shared a welcome email that was sent by the principal and it mentioned breakfast and lunch is free for all students, but said “we encourage students to bring lunch the first week in case of longer than normal lines.”
“The lunch with everyone in it is like excessive like there is so man people its hard to walk around and a lot of people cant get lunch,” junior Skylynn Frost said.
Students also told FOX5 that it was so packed during in the cafeteria that students are eating in the courtyard ,gym and even the library.
On Tuesday, Foothill High School posted on social media of a picture of the lunch windows without any long lines, and how their grab and go stations help manage the lunch crowd.
The school said they ordered more tables and students are “encouraged to sit with different friend groups.”
FOX5 has reached out to CCSD and the district said principals choose the bell schedules and it varies by each school.
